Beyond the Limits

Ever wondered of going against the gravity? Or maybe time? Is it really impossible to go against these just because we are purely human after all?

We often think that we could not achieve something that we think it is hard for us. But how would you know when you have not even try to fight for what you want? Sometimes we hesitate because people say that we can’t do it. We are too afraid to fall down in front of people because we were brought up that way. We are all judgemental and we are afraid that people will judge us, vice versa.

“The Martian”, a mission that seems to be impossible for human..

The Martian, which is the movie of the week, is teaching us to never give up no matter how bad the situation can be. Matt Damon plays the role as an astronaut named Mark Watney. Mark is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew during their mission to Mars.

No one will believe a human could survive in the outer space without any companion and limited food supply, but Mark proved them wrong. In real life, we often think that we are insignificant and there are things that will never be possible for us to achieve. However, many great men such as Einstein and Edison proved that human is omnipotent. We should always live beyond the expectations of others and defy the limitations because our limits are infinity.

Never give up is the only way to overcome all the hardships in life.

Mark faced a lot of unlucky incidents that almost take away his life when he was trying to survive on Mars. However, these incidents did not beat him down but strengthen his surviving spirit. He never gave up even though everything seemed hopeless as the time passed day by day. We should take Mark’s case into our account. Never give up even though it comes to a crucial moment. Life is full of hope and vitality as long as we believe in it.

In the movie, Mark is left by his crew on Mars and unable to contact NASA. He then decided to count on his own knowledge and try to survive through this hardship. In order to stay alive, he made use of his knowledge as a botanist and planted organic potato farm in the central room of the Hab.

Mark Watney proved that knowledge can be so useful in life, if we use them well.

Most of us are educated, but how often do we really make use of our knowledge in life? We never expect the things we learned from books could be really useful until we need them. However, Mark did show us that knowledge we learned is never useless. It is the best weapon a person can own. Sometimes, we can even save our life with the knowledge we have, just like Mark. Therefore, never contempt the knowledge you have learned in your life. You will not expect when you will need it.

Life is tough, but we should never contempt ourselves in every possibility.  We have to believe in ourselves. Confidence comes naturally with success, but success comes only to those who are confident. Mark survived through the difficult circumstances of being presumed dead by the nations and not having enough food supply. He proved that everyone in this world have the ability to go beyond their own limitations and achieve so much more that we think we can. If he can do it, so can we.

We will never know how strong we can be until being strong is the only choice we have.
